We'll ride together to Grandin Village, taking a route that highlights some existing cycling infrastructure that reflects the kinds of improvements in the Vision Zero Action Plan.Meeting: At 6:30pm, we'll meet up at Heights Community Church fellowship hall in Grandin Village to discuss the Vision Zero Safety Action Plan- what the City has committed to, what it means for cycling and pedestrian safety, and what comes next for advocacy.Enter the church from the courtyard. Bike racks are available out front at the co-op, or you're welcome to bring your bike inside the hall!---What is Vision Zero?Vision Zero Roanoke is the City's commitment to eliminating all traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2035, while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility for all. The Safety Action Plan - just passed by City Council - establishes new principles for how Roanoke designs roads, educates travelers, and builds collective responsibility for safer streets. The City also updated its Complete Streets Policy as part of the same vote.This is a big deal, and this meeting is a chance to celebrate the win, understand the details, and talk about how PedalSafe and the community can stay engaged as implementation begins.This event is free and open to the public. All experience levels welcome on the ride, we'll be riding at a slow, social pace.See you there!
