The Calling is a boutique Sonoma County winery founded in 2012 by broadcaster Jim Nantz and wine industry leader Peter Deutsch, built around a shared passion for honoring family, friendship, and the pursuit of meaningful work. Rooted in some of Sonoma’s most celebrated vineyard sites—particularly the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast—the winery partners with top family growers and is guided by acclaimed winemaker James MacPhail, whose hands-on approach emphasizes crafting wines that reflect the unique character and terroir of each vineyard. 

Known for elegant, expressive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (along with Cabernet Sauvignon), The Calling produces wines that showcase Sonoma’s natural beauty with balance, precision, and a sense of place.
