# Event Details - **Event Name**: Backpacking Overnight Adventure - 2 Days - **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 25 Apr, 2026 at 09:00 am – Sat, 16 May, 2026 at 09:00 am (-04:00) - **Event Description**: NOLI Backpack Overnight Adventure: Balds of Roan Mountain - Apr 25-26, Roan Mountain, TN Experience a guided backpacking trip, led by NOLI instructors Rob Schoborg and Michelle Duffourc, along the world-famous Appalachian Trail. This is an excellent opportunity for those who are new to backpacking and looking for a supportive environment to venture out for the first time as well as experienced hikers who want to learn new tips and tricks or just enjoy the companionship of a small-group adventure. Our route will take us along the world-famous Appalachian Trail from Carver's Gap to Hwy 19E. This stunning section of the AT offers some of the best long-range views along the entire 2190-mile national scenic trail and was ranked the best hiking trail in Tennessee by Backpacker Magazine. Total length is approximately 16 miles with 2400' of elevation gain. We'll use the morning of the first day to go through and pack our gear and then hit the trail at a leisurely pace, stopping periodically to rest, enjoy the scenery and learn additional skills. After our first day of backpacking, we'll set up camp, make dinner and settle in for the evening. The next morning we'll break camp and gradually make our way out to wrap up our overnight backpacking adventure with new memories and new friends. Group size is limited to 8. Backpack, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner (laundered) and sleeping pad provided, although participants are welcome to bring their own if they have then.
