- **Event Description**: We invite you to join the Parkville Symphonic Band as we begin our 31st season with a fall concert of American and British music for concert band.  Featured selections will include Gustav Holst’s masterpiece, the First Suite for Military Band, and a medley of favorite songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music.  Also featured will be the evocative Summoning Fire by Parkville native, Stephanie Berg.  Other favorites will include Steven Reineke’s homage to the desert southwest, Sedona, and Frank Perkin’s energetic classic, Fandango. The concert will be presented on November 9, at 3:00 p.m. in the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the Park University campus in Parkville, Missouri.  Admittance to the concert is free, with freewill donations accepted for the Parkville Living Center.

The Parkville Living Center (PLC) was formed during the pandemic for the purpose of serving needs of area residents while creating a greater sense of community.  The PLC offers classes ranging from arts & crafts and technology & IT support, to gardening (“from seed to plate”) and a men’s coffee and discussion group. Wellness health offerings include yoga programs for young children all the way up to a Holistic Hour with “gentle” yoga and meditation for the more mature.  Group discussions and luncheons provide both food and fellowship.  Crisis intervention is available to connect people to community resources when help is needed.  The PLC also partners with local schools, churches and other area organizations as it strives to fill gaps where services are missing in Platte County. The PLC is centered in the Parkville Presbyterian Church which serves as its home base and is where many of its classes and events take place. The Band invites you to join us in supporting this local organization.  Donations at the concert may be by cash or check made out to Parkville Living Center.
