Everyone is welcome, no experience needed!About this Event?Location: Whistler Woods Forest Preserve. We will meet at the end of the parking lot. ? Activities: If you'd like to practice plant ID, load trees onto a fire, or learn to lead your own volunteer day, this is the place for you! We will be cutting invasive brush (small trees and shrubs) and removing them for the ecological health of the site! We will put them on a brush pile fire, which is a small to medium sized fire for the purpose of disposing of the brush (and keeping warm throughout). Afterwards, we will have some social time where you can enjoy food, fire, and everyone's company.? Attire: Please wear long-sleeved shirts and bottoms that you don't mind gettind dirty. Avoid synthetic fabrics, as the fire can damage them. Additionally, you may layer as needed, but keep in mind that you may become warm and want to remove some throughout the day. Closed toed-shoes and a jacket are advised. We will provide all PPE necessary such as goggles, gloves, etc.? What to bring: Be sure to bring a water bottle, and anything else you think is necessary (sunglasses, bug spray, sunscreen, etc.). We will provide supplies like hand sanitizer.? Food: Light snacks will be provided during break time and at the end of the day!
