- **Event Description**: Enjoy a guided tour of the sun, and then the night sky after sunset, led by Astronomer Wes Tobin. Views will be provided through our large 16” research telescope and small 5” telescope, and our Solar Telescopes for solar flares and Sunspots, or you can bring your own telescope for a night of fun that will be truly astronomical! This event is meant for people of all ages. The general public is welcome!

After dark, Wes will give a green-laser-guided, naked-eye night sky tour of the bright stars and views of Lunar Craters, Venus, Hercules Cluster, Ring Nebula, Double Cluster, Wild Duck Cluster, Lagoon Nebula and maybe a few Galaxies through our large 16" research telescope and small 5" telescopes.

Attendees are welcome to come and go as they please between 7:30 PM (Sunset is at 8:29 PM) and 11:00 PM. The bright walkway lights will be covered and redirected downward, allowing great views while maintaining safety.

Attendees are also welcome (and encouraged) to bring their own telescopes. Wes will be available to discuss and assist in aligning and using telescopes as needed. Feel free to arrive early with your telescope to practice finding the moon!

Discussions about all things astronomy are welcome!

A "Go" or "No-Go" weather decision will be posted on Facebook on the morning of Tuesday, August 18th.
