Get expressive on your drum (djembe, doumbek, cajon, and conga recommended but pots, pans, and buckets welcome if you don't have access to a drum), rock out, and sing! You will learn rhythms from Guinea, Mali, Egypt, Morocco, Brazil, Jamaica, and funk/hip hop from the US. After this class, you will be able to sing and sound while you drum. Sliding scale $35-$45 per class.We will cover:--fundamental drum strokes--bass, tone, slap, pop, and touch--good drumming technique--healthy vocal technique (breath support, releasing throat tension, using your mask for projection, resonance)--world rhythms--funk, rock, blues & hip hop rhythms & world songs--vocal harmony--body percussion--vocal improv--trance rhythms (opening and closing rhythms) from North Africa--drum improvisation--drum circles, grooving, jamming, unleashing your voice as you drum and dance with lotsa play!
