Community Care Night: Yuletide Monsters Drink + Draw with Live Model

Drink & Draw RVA is an alternative themed live model drawing event for artists of all skill levels, hosted by local professional Artist, Brit Austin. Supplies provided, but feel free to bring your own.

Want to attend but don’t feel like you can draw a stick figure? No worries! This inclusive space is welcome and encouraging to all folks who want to draw, haven’t picked up a pencil in 90 years, doodle in their dreams, or are just plain curious. Basic live drawing demonstration included!

This event is 18+ and free with a suggested donation of $5-10.

BRIT AUSTIN (they/she) is a queer Illustrator and fine Artist whose whimsical work conjures dark fantasy and gothic horror to create vibrant book illustrations for publishers such as Wyrmwood Gaming and Dreampunk Press. Their traditional narrative gallery work has been shown nationally in galleries such as Modern Eden, Light Grey Art Lab, and Gristle Art Gallery. Find their art published in Spectrum Fantastic Art 24, Infected by Art Vol.10 and 13 as well as their first children’s book, “Christmas Magic” published by Little Dreamers.

Chiara Scuro has been making costumes and doing costuming work for nearly 20 years. She has been involved as a performance & craftsmanship judge, coordinator, producer & MC for cosplay contests & fashion shows, and honored guest at conventions nationally. A Richmond local, she works doing character, skit acting, & costume contest coordination for various local Richmond venues & events. Her costume work has been displayed at various galleries in Portland OR, Raleigh NC, and Richmond, VA. Chiara is on the current board of directors for Virago Alley, the non profit organization that puts on the Richmond Renaissance Faire and related historical educational events.

This special Community Care night is presented by RVA Krampusnacht. In its 13th year, RVA Krampusnacht celebrates the diverse myths and folkloric winter traditions celebrated around the world with a variety of events like the Yuletide Monsters Parade in Carytown, the "Winter Spirits" Group Art show, mask-making classes and much more during the month of December!
