This team will be led by Coalition selected coach Ryan Dondero.WHAT WE REQUIRE:• Previous improv training- Completion of Coalition Improv 301 or higher with a firm grasp on mechanics/technique and longform improv. Performers are expected to complete improv 401 once cast.•Ability to practice weekly in the lead-up to your debut, and on a consistent basis during your run. (weekly, bi-weekly, etc as needed to ensure consistent show quality.)•All team members must be 18 years or older.The new house team will be coached by Ryan Dondero! Ryan has a dog and a good attitude. He’s from New York, spent a few years in Los Angeles, and finally settled in Richmond in 2019. While in LA, he trained at UCB, The Pack Theater, and the LA Fitness on Overland Avenue. He’s been at Coalition since 2022 and has been having a blast. You can catch him performing monthly with Wolf Night and Can’t Hardly Date, and occasionally with Tote Bag and Y2K LOL. He also writes and performs for Coalition’s own live late-night show, Better Late, and contributes to the satirical punk news site The Hard Times.Ryan is looking to cast a team that’s just as comfortable playing slow and grounded as they are completely losing their fucking minds—a team that makes each other laugh above all else. Ideally, they will also agree, in writing, to be his friend even if they don’t like him.ABOUT RICHMOND FAMOUSCoalition Theater is excited to assemble a team of talented improvisers for the return of Richmond Famous, an Armando-style show featuring your favorite local personalities, leaders, and trouble-makers! The show will consist of interviews and monologues from special guests that inspire zany, magical improv comedy. The Moth meets Hot Ones meets Your Favorite Harold Team.The Richmond Famous team is expected to practice three or four times per month leading up to its first performance on March 13, and then twice monthly between performances. If you are a strong listener, a team player, and love to bring energy to the stage, please sign up to audition!Producing Richmond Famous is Ben Brown. Ben is a Coalition Theater company member performing with Coalition house team Babybangs and indie team Power Nap. Ben started his improv journey at Asheville Improv Collective in 2018. Previously, Ben operated an independent toy store and managed fine dining restaurants and wineshops. Ben currently works at the Steward School and enjoys Harper’s Magazine and struggling to learn classical guitar.Directing Richmond Famous is Nate Shepherd. Nate is a writer and comedian originally hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina. He fell in love with improv while taking a class at Coalition and has never looked back. You can now catch Nate performing at the theater every other Friday with the house team Airhead and every third Saturday with the indie team Power Nap. Nate has also performed at the Last Word and 2nd Best Fest comedy festivals. Nate believes that improv (in addition to being incredibly fun) offers a great chance to slow down, take a break from digital world, and connect with people in a meaningful way.
