What's the real price of industrial agriculture in the Yakima Valley?

Join us at the Richland Public Library on February 19th for a screening of The Price of Plenty: Voices of the Yakima Valley.
This powerful, community-based documentary tells the stories of families living with contaminated wells, toxic air, and workplace injuries in our agricultural communities. Through personal testimonies and scientific evidence, we document over 380 contaminated wells in the Lower Yakima Valley, workplace chemical burns, and the ongoing struggle for environmental justice.

The film examines how agricultural and dairy industrial practices have contributed to environmental harm and long-term health consequences for local families. It also explores the laws, public agencies, and community resources designed to address environmental risks and advance environmental justice.

You'll hear from:
•Families like Teodora's in Outlook, surrounded by concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs)
•Scientist Ron Sell from Friends of Toppenish Creek, who has conducted over 15 years of independent water quality monitoring
•Environmental Lawyer Charlie Tebbutt, presenting two decades of litigation data
•The Cooperativa Tierra y Libertad, demonstrating alternative models of sustainable, worker-centered agriculture

Through the journeys of ELLA's Environmental Justice program advocates and the perspectives of trusted local leaders, this film aims to inspire collective action and empower our community to advocate for a healthier, safer, and more just environment for current and future generations.
