Shake the winter blues at Kouchibouguac National Park. Join us on February 21 for a day full of fun activities. Learn. Move. Play. Eat.

The Pijeboogwek shelter will serve as the hub and meeting point for all activities, unless indicated otherwise. 

10:00 - Cross-country skiing friendly relay race	
Friendly relay race with three different circuits for three age groups. Presented by Ski Codiac cross country ski club.

11:00 - Walking in a winter wonderland	
Snowshoe walk: Discover the winter wilderness of Kouchibouguac National Park with two Parks Canada ecologists.

11:00-14:00 - Wabanaki Food Truck	
Wabanaki Food Truck will be on site to help you discover their traditional Indigenous cuisine.

11:00 - Music around the fire
Nathanael and Naomi Buschhaus from Stilesville, N.B. Enjoy traditional East Coast music featuring violin, accordion, spoons, and clapperboard.

12:00 - Music around the fire and appearance by Parka
The Kent North Cultural Society presents singer-songwriter Gaston Guimond. Come enjoy your lunch to the sound of music and dance with our mascot Parka.

13:00-15:00 - Sleigh Rides	
Come see the horses and enjoy a sleigh ride along a snowy trail.

13:00-16:00 - Mi'gmaw Weaving and Knitting Circle at Patterson Hill
Bring your knitting and come relax in the heated Patterson shelter while your little ones have fun sliding on the snow. Katrina Sock, an interpreter at Kouchibouguac National Park, will be on hand to demonstrate Mi'gmaq weaving and talk about the importance of this tradition in her community. She will share her expertise, and who knows, you may have the opportunity to share yours. Hot chocolate and herbal tea will be served.

13:30 - Music around the fire	
Nathanael and Naomi Buschhaus from Stilesville, N.B. Enjoy traditional East Coast music featuring violin, accordion, spoons, and clapperboard.

14:00 - Demonstration of winter dog harness sports	 
Demonstration of winter driving sports such as sledding and skijoring. All are welcome. Presented by Moncton Dog Runners.

14:30 - Open trail for dog harness sports	
Enjoy a new trail along the parkway, groomed especially for winter dog harness sports during the carnival. Dogs in harness and on leash only.

15:30 - Nature photography	
The Kent North Cultural Society presents artist Manon Cormier who will be offering a workshop on nature photography. Bring your camera or cell phone and join us for golden hour to capture some beautiful shots.

16:00 - Local Stories and Tales: A Return to the Good Old Days of Winter
Come reminisce about life during winters of yesteryear and discover anecdotes told with gratitude and smiles. We will have the opportunity to hear stories shared by a small group of local residents. The audience will be invited to share a small taste of fricot afterwards to close the event. This family activity will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Pijeboogwek.

18:30 - Stargazing with the Royal Astronomy Society of Canada	
Join the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada members sharing the winter skies and constellations. Opportunities to look at Orion, Jupiter, and the North star.
