- **Event Name**: Coffee, Pastries, and Petitions with the Rhinebeck Republican Committee
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 14 Mar, 2026 at 09:00 am – Sat, 14 Mar, 2026 at 12:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Come out Saturday morning and sign our nominating petitions to get our candidates on the ballot.

Just a friendly reminder! It is petition season in the political cycle. People registered to political parties, part of political committees, if not the candidate and their teams themselves will be knocking on your doors to grab your signature. What they're coming by for is to get their party's candidate on the ballot. This is not a visit for soliciting or campaigning. This is simply a tedious part of our electoral process in New York - the process of gathering a large amount of signatures to get a candidate on the ballot. In accordance with NY State election law, any candidate seeking to get on the ballot must provide petitions signed by a prescribed number (generally 5%) of the registered voters from their party in the jurisdiction which they wish to represent. Most people coming to get your signatures are volunteers just trying to help in their civic duties. I know that these days many people may be hesitant to answer their doors. Please be kind and realize if you have someone at the door with a clipboard, this might be what they’re coming by for.

Last week, we began our nominating petition drive. Throughout the month of March, members of our committee will be out soliciting signatures from registered Republican voters for our candidates.

This year, the following offices will be up for election in November: Representative in Congress, Governor/Lt. Governor, State Senate and Assembly, Dutchess County Sheriff, County Legislator, and several State Supreme Court Justice positions We also have petitions for some candidates who are running in districts outside of Rhinebeck, including Red Hook, Milan, the rest of Dutchess County, and parts of Columbia and Ulster Counties.

Please let us know if there is a particular day or time that is more convenient for us to stop by and get your signature. We will also soon be hosting a couple of events where you can drop in and sign our petitions – the first will be a Coffee Klatch this Saturday, March 14th from 9 AM to Noon at the American Legion, 6361 Mill Street. Stop in, enjoy some coffee and pastries, and sign the petitions for our candidates.

If you don’t know any of our committee members, if you can’t get out, or if you just want more information or explanation, PLEASE don’t hesitate to call me and I will make arrangements to get a petition to you for your signature.
Thanks,

Frank
