Í tilefni 250 ára lýðveldisafmæli Bandaríkjanna (America250), mun Fulbright sérfræðingurinn David Anderson halda opinn fyrirlestur um sögu og þróun gospel tónlistar í Háskóla Íslands þann 24. mars.

Gospel tónlist er með vinsælustu tegundum bandarískrar tónlistar og mikilvægur hluti af menningu og tónlist blökkumanna í Bandaríkjunum. Í erindinu mun gospel sérfræðingurinn David Anderson fjalla um sögu og þróun gospel tónlistar, mismunandi gospel stíla og áhrif gospel á tónlist í Bandaríkjunum og víðar um heiminn.

David Anderson er aðjúnkt í Gospel og R&amp;B við Miami-háskóla, Frost School of Music, sem og reyndur tónlistarstjóri, tónskáld og útsetjari.

Fulbright fyrirlesturinn fer fram þriðjudag 24. mars kl. 12 í fyrirlestrasal Eddu E-103, Háskóla Íslands.

Fulbright Forum: A Journey Through the History of Gospel Music – March 24 2026

In celebration of America250, Fulbright Specialist David Anderson will give an open talk on the history and development of Gospel Music at the University of Iceland on March 24th.

Gospel Music is among the most celebrated American music genres and a fundamental part of African American music and culture. In his talk, Gospel expert David Anderson will illuminate the history and development of gospel music, discuss different styles within the genre and the impact Gospel has had on music in the United States and around the world.

David Anderson is an Adjunct Professor in Gospel and R&amp;B at University of Miami Frost School of Music, as well as experienced music director, composer and arranger.

The Fulbright Specialist Forum will take place on Tuesday March 24th at 12:00 PM in Edda Auditorium E-103, University of Iceland.

The event is organized by the Fulbright Commission Iceland in collaboration with University of Iceland School of Education.
