Here at the National Alliance on Mental Illness Northern Nevada, community members with lived experience surrounding mental illness are encouraged to voice and share their story as a means to evoke feelings of hope and community, removing feelings of isolation.


However, when it comes to speaking about one's own mental health journey and experiences, some may find that voicing their experience or sharing their story with others has its challenges. Truth be told, not everyone feels comfortable expressing their emotions or sharing their lived experience with others; and that is OK. There are various ways to express yourself, your feelings, and your vision. Human beings express themselves every day through non-verbal language. This can include dance, music, painting, and even photography.


Community members from across Washoe County are submitting their vision of "Why Mental Health is Important" and the top three submissions will share their story at Frame of Mind and receive a $500 cash prize!
