Learn how to spot them – and why they’re important to our local environment – on a FREE docent-led walk! Lake Park has always been home to many native species, including trees, grasses, riparian plants, and flowers. Since April 2024, our coalition of partners has helped reintroduce many native plants to Lake Park, and we’re excited to share with you how they’ve been thriving. On this native plant walk, Emma Wynn and Hannah Bishop-Moser from the Nevada Native Plant Society will guide you through Lake Park. We’ll talk about how to identify native plants, the benefits they have for the plants, animals, and peoples who call our high desert ecosystem home. The founded in 1975, is an educational organization whose purpose is to stimulate an interest in and an appreciation of native plants and their preservation.Emma Wynn has loved wildflowers since she was a child. She grew up in the UK and lived in Indiana and Japan before moving to Nevada 10 years ago. Wynn joined NVNPS when she moved to Nevada to learn about our local flora and meet people. She volunteers at the UNR Herbarium mounting plant specimens and is currently the NVNPS President.Hannah Bishop-Moser is the Conservation Chair for NVNPS. Hannah started her career as a field biologist, which took her all over Nevada and beyond. Though this, she gained a love for great basin ecosystems.
