''"Brian Hannan is the author of over a dozen books on the movies including The Glen Cinema Disaster and three books relating to Paisley cinemas. "Paisley at the Pictures" tells the story of the explosion of cinemagoing in Paisley from 1910 to 1951. In 1950 Paisley had 93,000 inhabitants and eight cinemas with, between them, 13,000 seats. The number of films shown was 1200 per year - far more than are released these days. Paisley and Glasgow had the highest cinema-going audience per head of population in the whole of Britain. 

In 1950, six cinemas were devoted to first run and two specialised in repeat showings of new and old films. Very few films lasted a whole week.''

Brian will have copies of his book available for £10 each, cash only.
