- **Event Description**: Brenda Huckins Bonter is a longtime participant in Wheatland Music Festival (WMO) and Traditional Arts Weekend (TAW). Brenda's first drumming experience was at Wheatland and now she is a volunteer at both WMO and TAW.

Brenda loves the chance to introduce new ideas and techniques to both kids and adults. After retiring as a High School Art and Drama teacher she has had the chance to share her love of visual art and drumming with groups of all ages and abilities. Brenda is excited to join Wheatscouts in April to create music and art!
Wheatscouts will provide a variety of items (i.e. string bags, bandannas) from which each participant can select one item for tie dying. You are welcome to bring your own 100% cotton item, especially if you want to tie dye a shirt. Dress casually and come ready to experiment and have fun!

About Wheatscouts: Wheatland Music Organization (501(c)(3)) children’s program was started at Wheatland in 1987 with the purpose of introducing children to folk arts and traditional music in a casual, kid-friendly setting. Wheatscouts events are free of charge, open to the public and all ages of children are welcome. No preregistration or WMO membership required. From learning about different square & contra dances, songs, storytelling, string & percussion music instruments to crafts & activities like bookbinding, nature walks and tie-dye - we focus on finding new ways to teach the old ways.

Wheatscouts typically meet the 2nd Saturday (October – May) 11 AM till 1 PM in the Gladys Wernette Classroom building on the Wheatland Music site. The event includes a break with healthy snacks provided. Feel free to bring your own food if you or your child have dietary restrictions, or simply to share it with the group! If your child is interested in dance, music and arts, make sure to check out the Wheatland scholarships (e.g., for lessons, instruments, craft tools, participation in camps/workshops) and local music lesson programs that are available year-round through the Wheatland Music Organization.
