Stacy prepares an assortment of dishes that were both consumed and desired by the soldiers of the Continental Army. She'll answer questoins like; What were their rations like and how did 18th century cooks make them palatable? What dishes did they desire to remind them of their New England home? Based on firsthand accounts and regional favorites Stacy will be using assorted hearth cooking techniques to create these dishes and discuss the history behind them.Stacy Booth is a foodways historian with almost 20 years of experience reenacting and presenting to the public. She specializes in 17th and 18th century New England foodways presentations and cooking demonstrations. She worked previously at Plimoth Patuxet and Coggeshall Farm Museum as an reenactor. She is currently a board member of Col Bailey’s 2nd Massachusetts Regiment, a Revolutionary War reenactment group who has been participating in national reenactments these past 50 plus years. Her experiences in Revolutionary War reenactment for the last 10 years have allowed her to travel from Canada to Maryland participating in hearth/campfire cooking as well as outdoor bread oven baking demonstrations. She also runs her business, Forgotten Recipes (forgotten-recipes.com), where she has presented, cooked at or set up displays for libraries, museums and historic houses for the past six years. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Gastronomy at Boston University.Our Members Only Event is a thank you to the members of the Rehoboth Antiquarian Society and their continued support. You must be a member in current standing to attend. We will be joined by the Rehoboth Minute Men. This event will be hosted at the Carpenter Museum on May 2nd from 1:00-3:00. Admission is free for members, but pre-registration is required to ensure availability.Parking is available in the lot behind the building.
