invite you to support the upcoming Kopy Kat Classic @ WVU Reedsville Farm, a hunter/jumper charity event that will both celebrate the equestrian community and provide a meaningful contribution to rider safety June 13-14, 2026. This year, our show will benefit groundbreaking equestrian helmet safety research being conducted at the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab, recently published in Annals of Biomedical Engineering ( https://doi.org/10.1007/s10439-025-03723-0).

As equestrians, we know the risks of riding—but we also know that helmets save lives. I can personally attest to this. In August, I experienced a devastating fall that left me with maxillofacial fractures, a severely fractured nose, fractured orbital bones, cervical and thoracic injuries, a major concussion and intermittent memory loss. Thanks to my helmet, those injuries weren’t far worse. Without it, I might not be here today. That moment reinforced for me the importance of supporting the kind of research that makes helmets safer for every rider.

The Virginia Tech Helmet Lab is leading the way in testing helmets under real-world fall conditions, creating the first equestrian-specific rating system to help riders make safer choices and to push manufacturers toward better designs. By supporting our horse show, you’ll be directly contributing to this life-saving work.
