- **Event Description**: So'zan Miller Roshi - dharma heir of Dogen Hosokawa Roshi, student of the late Tenzan Toyoda Rokoji, founding abbot of Daiyuzenji in Chicago, and one of Meido Roshi's primary teachers - will give a dharma talk and demonstration at Korinji on Saturday evening. 

The subject: Zen-Ken-sho (literally, "Zen, Sword, Brush"). This phrase describes the training system passed down in our Rinzai Zen lineage from Omori Sogen Roshi, combining classical Zen practice (zazen, sanzen/koan kufu, sesshin, etc), martial arts or related physical culture, and training in fine arts or crafts. This event will include physical demonstration of the Ken and Sho aspects, and will finish with a chakai (tea gathering).

More than simply "cross-training," Zen-Ken-Sho is a unified path that powerfully develops and refines the human being. It is also an approach especially effective in addressing common deficits of modern trainees. And finally, it is an approach that may be called the hallmark of the Rinzai Zen lineage carried at Korinji. 

The event begins at 5pm sharp. Please arrive by 4:30 to give yourself time to park and walk the trail to the training hall. Zen trainees should bring their usual practice clothing to wear. 

Donating members of Korinji's community (via its Patreon): no additional donation is required for this event. Others: the suggested contribution is $10 (a donation box will be set out)

We will adjourn after the talk to a nearby restaurant for a group meal. We look forward to seeing you!
