Does your dog love to sniff? 🐶 Turn that natural ability into an incredible skill with our Scent Detection Foundations Course, a 6-week introduction to the fascinating world of scentwork, where your dog learns to search, locate, and indicate specific target odours.
This structured course is designed for all breeds and abilities, from complete beginners to those looking to develop more focus and confidence. You’ll learn how to harness your dog’s most powerful sense, their nose, through fun, science-based training that builds focus, communication, and teamwork.
Throughout the 6 weeks, we’ll cover:
🔹 Understanding how scent travels and how dogs use their noses
🔹 Imprinting and pairing odours using positive, reward-based methods
🔹 Teaching a clear, reliable indication
🔹 Building drive, motivation, and search patterns
🔹 Working in new environments and with controlled distractions
🔹 Developing handler observation and timing skills
Whether your goal is to have fun or build your dog’s confidence, or progress this course provides a solid, science-led foundation.
Upon completion, you’ll have the opportunity to progress onto our Scent Detection Foundations Plus course, taking your skills to the next level with more complex searches, variable odour placement, and environmental challenges.
