Topics include the use of forensic investigative genetic genealogy (FIGG), trauma-informed response, and victim-centered practices.Kris Pedretti, a survivor of Joseph James DeAngelo and founder of Phyllis’s Garden, will share a structured survivor perspective, offering insight into trauma, victim behavior, and post-traumatic growth. Anne Marie Schubert will present a case study highlighting the role of FIGG in solving violent crimes and cold cases.Please note: This training includes sensitive subject matter. Seating is limited; early arrival is recommended.Attendees are also invited to a special event at 8:00 AM at the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office for the unveiling of a new soft interview room donated by Phyllis’s Garden. Designed to support trauma-informed interviewing, the space promotes comfort, safety, and improved communication. Light refreshments will be provided.
