- **Event Description**: In 2018, William Zimmerman was diagnosed with Parkinson's, a degenerative neuromuscular disease. Here is his story:

"In 2024, I began working on a figurative
piece that I imagined as a visualization of different bodies celebrating being embodied. The painting was a disaster, but the studies led me to the canvases in this exhibit, which convey what it feels like for me to live with this disease.

"In addition to the paintings on canvas, there is a series of paintings on paper that grew out of the studies for the canvases.

"After moving to New Jersey in 2025, I joined a poetry writing/workshopping group. Through my writing with this group, I found a way to connect writing and
painting. Currently, there are 70 9 x 12 paintings on paper. About one-third have an accompanying poem, and I am working on completing the rest."

William's courage in sharing this work with the public is admirable and deserves applause. I am pleased to present an in-depth look at his life with Parkinson's through paintings on canvases, exploratory works on paper, and poetry. I hope you'll join us on this journey into William's soul and heart.
