Hughie has even DJ’d in Havana, Cuba playing salsa music in the birthplace of salsa music. DJ Hughie has been presenting live radio shows since the heady days of pirate radio in the 1980’s These days, you can catch DJ Hughie on 2 regular weekly radio shows, each show being on eminent, London based radio stations ‘Colourful Radio’ and also on ‘Jazz Funk Soul Radio (JFSR)’. For more information on DJ Hughie, check out his website www.djhughie.com ☆☆☆☆☆☆Ces Podd (& Kerry) ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Ces is a former professional footballer who after a 15 year playing career, set up a salsa dance company that host local dance classes and events in Yorkshire mainly Leeds, Bradford and Doncaster. Ces stumbled across the salsa scene while working as a youth team coach back in the 1980’s. During coaching sessions he noticed there were young players that struggled with basic movement skills like turning and quick feet, they lacked rhythm and mobility and after watching a Brazilian coaching video where the mobility sessions included movement to music (Latin beat ) Ces noticed the result was perfect timing, so after a few sessions with Tanya Cuzan an amazing latin dance teacher, Ces began to include the music sessions in his coaching method with immediate results. The introduction was so impactful that players would often continue dancing well after the training sessions had finished. After such a result Ces began to attend salsa events throughout the UK and he eventually set up his own salsa events group and began sharing his love for the dance with members of the local communities and beyond. More recently Ces has been sharing his salsa dance skills in the Caribbean with a number of dance organizations and has added some of the Caribbean energy and flare to his dance routines. Ces & his dance partner Kerry bring style and elegance to a class in a relaxed and fun way. They have the ability to bring out the best in a dancer and are able to make lead and follower feel at ease on the dance floor. Some of the events Ces & Kerry have organized and taught at include: Leeds Weekenders Bradford all dayers Caribbean Salsa holiday to St Kitts Weekly classes and monthly events throughout the Yorkshire region Classes include: footwork/ shines, mobility /timing and turn patterns. ☆☆☆☆☆☆Lee Swift ☆☆☆☆☆☆ Lee started dancing Salsa in 2004. He was bitten by the 'Salsa bug' from the first moment he saw it danced - that was it… he had to learn! In January 2007 Lee qualified as a fully Insured Teacher and Member of the UKA, and started teaching in Emersons Green, Bradley Stoke and Warmley, since Covid he is now back at Warmley teaching every Sunday evening. Over the years he has been fortunate enough to have the opportunity of teaching and DJing as far afield as Nairobi, Kenya on several occasions and has been instrumental in organising and running some of the bigger events in Bristol including The Easter Extravaganza, Salsa on the Pier, Latin Junction and Kiz Junction and of course the Montuno Monthly party nights, as well as teaching or Djing at events for Swindon Salsa, Adsolute Salsa in Derby, Latin Motion in Birmingham and at the Scottish Congressas well as Latinfest Weekender. Lee enjoys teaching and sharing his passion for both Salsa Dance and Music with others. In his classes he likes to ensure people have fun, whilst always working on good technique. He also emphasises the importance of leading and following during the dance. As well as Salsa lee loves to teach Bachata, Merengue, La Rueda and Cha Cha. Lee was also instrumental in founding Salsa Montuno and in events bringing some of the UK's top teachers & performers to Bristol, running Workshops in Styling, Technique and Body Movement and alternative dance styles. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆Laura Robb☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Laura started dancing when she was 5 but has been dancing salsa for 22 years, having originally been taught by her RE teachers brother whilst on a school trip to a monastery on the Isle of Wight (!), she hasn't stopped since. Whilst at University in Leeds, she enjoyed dancing 7 nights a week, and her passion for teaching beginners was born as she had the opportunity to teach for some wonderful teachers. Now she has 2 boys and a very understanding husband, and she can be found teaching regularly with Salsa Calentita, The Funky Latino and The Salsa Bachata Social Club team. Laura loves a class full of beginners who think they can't dance and seeing the smiles as they realise they have done it! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆Alice Baker☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ I began my dance journey with 15 years of ballet and 7 years of modern dance, teaching younger students during my final three years at dance school. While at university, I was introduced to Cuban salsa through cheerleading friends, where my love for Salsa truly began. After moving back home in 2016, I discovered Cross Body Salsa, along with Bachata and later Kizomba. Since joining the teaching team at Salsa Bachata Social Club in 2022, I’ve continued to develop my ladies’ styling, teaching approach, and confidence dancing both On1 and On2, which led me to join a London Salsa Performance Team in 2024. I also teach Kizomba with L2 Dance, a school founded by my sister and her close friend in 2018. I joined the team in 2019, initially teaching weekly classes. Following Covid, L2 Dance evolved to focus on monthly Kizomba-only socials, which I now co-run, creating a welcoming and supportive space for connection and social dancing. I love meeting new people and sharing my passion and joy for dance with everyone I teach and meet. ☆☆☆☆☆☆Magdalena Siudzinska☆☆☆☆☆☆ Magdalena has been dancing since the age of 7, with many years of experience in ballroom dance, building a strong foundation in both couples and formation teams. She has competed in numerous competitions, including the Polish Championships, and performed in many dance shows. In 2015, she discovered salsa and bachata — and it quickly became her true passion. Since then, Magdalena has been dancing and sharing her love for Latin dance across the UK and Europe, from north to south, as well as taking part in international dance festivals around the world. Besides salsa, she also loves bachata, especially Dominican bachata. For Magdalena, dance is more than just steps — it’s about connection, musicality, joy, and freedom.
