On July 12th from 11AM to 2PM, unleash your creativity and bring a touch of vibrant artistry into your life with the Mosaic Flower Workshop at the Berks History Center. This engaging, hands-on class, led by Guest Instructor Elena Lagana, is designed to be enjoyable for both beginners and experienced crafters alike.
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to create a beautiful floral mosaic, choosing from three base shapes: a heart (7”x 7”), a round (6.5”), or a square (7”x 7”). You'll design your own unique, flower-themed piece using a variety of pre-cut stained glass, ceramic pieces, and colorful glass nuggets. The focus will be on arranging and gluing the mosaic pieces onto a wooden substrate, which will be ready to hang once completed. At the end of the session, Elena will demonstrate how to grout your mosaic piece after the glue has dried. Each participant will receive grout to take home, allowing you to complete your artwork at your own pace. The workshop includes the choice of mosaic base shape, pre-cut stained glass, ceramic pieces, glass nuggets, and a wooden substrate for your mosaic, as well as grout to take home, along with expert instruction and guidance.
The cost of the workshop is $75 for BHC Members and $90 for Non-Members. All materials are included—just bring your creativity! This class is open to all skill levels, so whether you're a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, you’ll find inspiration and enjoyment in this creative endeavor. Reserve your spot today and take home a stunning piece of art that reflects your personal style and creativity. We look forward to seeing you there!
Off-street parking is available in the BHC's parking lot, located at 160 Spring Street, Reading, PA 19601.
About the Instructor:
Elana Lagana hails from Russia, where she dedicated her career to teaching children with special needs. Her journey into the world of mosaics began as a hobby, sparked by her husband, a stained glass artist. He taught her the techniques of cutting, foiling, and soldering stained glass, but Elana found herself captivated by the small, broken pieces that were left behind. She began to assemble these fragments into distinctive designs, and that passion has since evolved into her current work. After eight years of experience, she now creates mosaics using a diverse range of materials, including ceramics, stained glass, metal wire, beaded chains, beads, kiln-fired tiles, and shattered china.
