# Event Details

- **Event Name**: King Ayisoba live
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 28 Nov, 2026 at 09:00 pm (+01:00)

--------------------

Known around the world as the “King of Kologo”, King Ayisoba is one of the most original figures in contemporary Ghanaian music.

Born in northern Ghana and descended from a Frafra hunting tribe, Ayisoba has turned the kologo — the traditional two-stringed instrument of his homeland — into the centre of a sound that connects memory and the present.

His voice moves from deep nasal cries to soft, high-pitched singing, while his band of Frafra musicians, singers and dancers creates a hypnotic, high-energy rhythmic flow. The result is physical and participatory music that invites the audience to answer the songs and join the dance.

For Ayisoba, tradition is never a museum. His songs address personal, social and political issues, speaking about injustice, corruption, greed, family and change.

Since the release of his debut album Modern Ghanians in 2006, Ayisoba has released seven albums, received numerous awards and taken his music across Europe, the United States, Canada, Asia, Australia and Africa, performing at festivals including Roskilde, WOMAD and WOMEX.

His musical journey has also led to collaborations with artists such as Lee “Scratch” Perry, Orlando Julius, African Head Charge, Adrian Sherwood, Djuma Soundsystem, MoBlack, Pharfar and New Age Doom.

A live experience where traditional Frafra music meets dub, reggae, dancehall, punk, folk and techno.
