In this Spring Art Camp, Students will be creating two projects, draw a landscape scene using colored bleeding tissue paper and crafting a multilayered work of art that shows the life cycle of a frog!
Perspective Tissue Paintings
Students will begin by observing and practicing 1 point perspective drawings. Students will explore how to create depth on a flat surface by using a single vanishing point. Using various landscapes and cityscapes as inspiration, students will then draw a landscape scene. Using colored bleeding tissue paper, students will then paint their landscape. This technique creates uniquely blended colors or effects (such as silhouettes or abstract designs).
Life Cycle of a Frog Creations
To celebrate Spring, students will examine different plants and animals that begin their life cycles at this time. Students will focus on frogs and create and craft a multilayered and pieced frog. Starting with a circular body, students will create a rotating dial that discusses all the different stages in a frog’s life cycle. From there, students will use different techniques and papers to add the head, eyes, arms, legs, and even their fingers.
Art Camps at the Dahl Arts Center are fun-filled days full of art projects, friends, and giggles. Kids will be guided through multiple projects by skilled art educators. Students will need to bring a sack lunch and clothes to get messy in!
