OVERVIEW
==========
Kalna (also called Ambika Kalna) is a historic temple town in the district of Purba Bardhaman, located along the banks of the Bhagirathi River. The town flourished during the rule of the Bardhaman Raj, who built many magnificent temples here between the 17th and 19th centuries.

Kalna is especially famous for its remarkable temple architecture, particularly the Nabakailash complex, a unique arrangement of 108 Shiva temples built in two concentric circles. Another highlight is the Rajbari temple complex, which houses several beautiful terracotta temples including the Krishna Chandra Temple, known for its intricate carvings depicting scenes from mythology and everyday life.

Despite its rich heritage, Kalna remains a relatively quiet town, making it a charming destination for those interested in Bengal’s temple architecture, terracotta art, and riverside history.


Day Trip detail
===========
We will start early in the morning at 6:00 AM, heading towards Kalna.
(Route map will be updated later)

— Breakfast will be on the way in Singur.

? A short halt at Baidyapur Jora Deul (around 15 km before Kalna).
? This is a fascinating pair of twin brick temples dating back to the 16th century, known for their tall rekha-style towers and simple yet striking medieval Bengal architecture.

? On reaching Kalna, we will visit the famous temple complex inside Kalna Rajbari.
?The Rajbari complex houses several remarkable temples built during the time of the Bardhaman Maharajas.
> 108 Shiva Temple Complex – One of the most iconic temple complexes in Bengal, arranged in two concentric circles with 108 Shiva temples, creating a beautiful and symmetrical architectural pattern.
> Pratapeshwar Temple – Famous for its intricate terracotta panels depicting scenes from mythology and daily life in Bengal.
> Krishna Chandra Temple – A magnificent navaratna-style temple with exquisite terracotta ornamentation.

? Lunch will be arranged at a local restaurant in Kalna. 

?After lunch, depending on time and group preference, we may consider one of the following optional activities:
? Visit the Ramchandra Temple Complex at Guptipara, known for its historic group of temples and beautiful Bengal temple architecture.
OR
? If possible, we may enjoy a boat ride on the Hooghly River.
(These options can only be decided after lunch depending on time).

Afterwards, we will start our journey back home.
