Get a hands-on introduction to tree identification in this dendrology crash course! We will explore the Jesse P. Perry III Arboretum at Prairie Ridge to learn how to recognize common Piedmont trees using leaves, twigs, bark, seeds and simple identification keys. We will learn about species growing in the arboretum that are more common to the mountains or the coast. We’ll also discover how to contribute to collaborative science by tracking seasonal life cycles with Nature’s Notebook.
