- **Event Description**: Join us in person at the Poe Center for our popular program - Girl Talk!About this EventGirl Talk for 4th-7th graders addresses the timely topic of adolescent growth and development and the physical, social, and emotional changes that girls experience during puberty. Poe educators show off some of our 3-D exhibits, lead activities, and hold candid discussions to help parents and daughters explore a range of topics from the workings of the reproductive system to the menstrual cycle to feminine hygiene protection and more.This program is for girls AND their caregivers/trusted adult. Girls should not attend individually. One ticket is admission for one adult-daughter pair. For additional daughters, please select the add-on "additional daughter".Questions about the program/content? Since establishing its Raleigh facility in 1991, the Poe Center has provided health education to nearly one million children throughout North Carolina.By engaging in fun, highly interactive lessons, preschoolers through twelfth graders receive information that follows the NC DPI Healthful Living Essential Standards on a variety of health topics, including nutrition, dental health, general health, family life and drug prevention. The Poe Center facility boasts five teaching theaters focused on these topics as well as the “Brain Theater,” which is housed in the lobby of the Poe Center in a shell whose exterior is representative of a twelve-foot-tall human head. Health Educators also travel across the state to provide health education in schools."
