Join us for a nature tour where we'll show you some tips and tricks for navigating one of the most currently-accessible sections of the park: the Gipson Play Plaza, the House of Many Porches, and its adjacent natural scenery.The tour will begin at Parking Lot G. Accessible restrooms will be available, though they do not have automatic openers. The tour may include optional paths on uneven terrain. This tour is led by Raleigh Parks Specialized Recreation and Inclusion Services and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.The program has a rain date of the following day, November 13th from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Registrants will be notified of weather plans through Eventbrite.TicketsWhile free to attend, space is limited. Registration is required. This program is free thanks to Dix Park Conservancy donors.Directions & ParkingThis outdoor program takes place at Fountain Plaza inside Gipson Play Plaza. To locate, visit the .From Western Boulevard, enter the park at Hunt Drive or S. Boylan Avenue.From Lake Wheeler Road, enter the park at Goode Street or Umstead Drive.From Centennial Parkway, enter the park at Blair Drive.Follow signage to Gipson Play Plaza.Parking is located in Lot  G.To locate public parking lots, visit the Dix Park Parking Map.With the opening of Gipson Play Plaza in 2025, Dix Park is expecting a significant increase in visitors. This increase will likely affect parking availability throughout the entire park. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Nearby parking cannot be guaranteed.WeatherIn the event of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled.RestroomsOutdoor programs are located at various places throughout the entire park. There are temporary restrooms located at the Big Field, Flowers Field, Magnolia Room, Oak Room, and by the Dog Park. Accessible temporary restrooms are located at the Big Field and Flowers Field. Indoor accessible restrooms are available at Gipson Play Plaza, under the Superintendent’s House at the Stone Houses and at the Chapel during hours of operation.AccessibilityDix Park continues to strive to be accessible and welcoming for visitors, including those with disabilities. Currently, portions of Dix Park, including some areas where programs and events occur, have uneven surfaces and are not fully accessible. Accessibility is a primary focus for early park improvements and all future planning and development.Parking: Accessible parking spaces are available in all lots.Restrooms: Accessible temporary restrooms are located at the Big Field and Flowers Field. By registering for the Program, I hereby grant the City of Raleigh, Dix Park Conservancy, and program partners permission to use my likeness in a photograph, video, or other digital media (“photo”) in any and all of their publications, including web-based publications and digital platforms, without payment or other consideration. I hereby irrevocably authorize the City of Raleigh, the Dix Park Conservancy, and program partners to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish, or distribute these photos for any lawful purpose.I have read this release thoroughly and understand that by registering for this program I am waiving legal rights.
