The National Weather Service will host this year’s SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training at Northeast Alabama Community College. This class is free, open to the public, and is one of the most effective ways our community can strengthen severe weather readiness. If you want to learn how to identify and report severe weather safely and accurately, this training is for you.

Participants will learn:
• How to recognize storm structure and key severe weather features
• What to report to NWS and how to report it
• Spotter safety guidelines
• How your reports directly support NWS warning operations and protect our communities

This training is an important part of our severe weather preparedness efforts across Jackson and DeKalb Counties. We encourage residents, first responders, volunteers, CERT members, ARES operators, and anyone interested in improving community readiness to attend.
