Crystal Creek and the Blue Lagoons - via Torsten's Rock Garden When: Sunday 22 March - 7:00 am Location: Paluma Range National Park Leader: Cherry Grade: 4-5 (off-track sections, moderate to difficult) RSVP: info@veteducation.com.au Cherry will be leading a scenic wander through Paluma Range National Park to Crystal Creek via Torsten’s Rock Garden, with the option to continue upstream towards the Blue Lagoon and possibly the Three Lagoons if conditions and time allow. This is a beautiful rainforest and granite creek system, combining formed track walking with off-track creek navigation. Expect around 12 km return and allow most of the day, with time for swims and exploring. From the Paluma Dam area, the route passes Wilfred’s Lookout and Torsten’s Rock Garden before descending to Crystal Falls Lagoon. From there, the group will turn upstream along Crystal Creek, navigating through boulders, ferns and granite slabs towards the Blue Lagoon. Depending on water levels and the group's pace, Cherry may continue upstream to explore additional lagoons and test her map-based navigation skills. This walk involves uneven terrain, creek crossings and off-track navigation. Participants should be comfortable with moderate-to-difficult bushwalking, carrying sufficient water, and navigating through rainforest and rocky creek beds. Bring: - At least 2-3 L of water - Lunch and snacks - Swimmers and towel - Sturdy footwear with good grip - Hat, sun protection and insect repellent - Map/GPS (recommended for those wanting to practise navigation) Meeting details will be provided once you RSVP directly to Cherry at info@veteducation.com.au. A classic Paluma adventure: rainforest, granite, clear water and just enough navigation to keep the brain engaged. Townsville Bushwalking Club members: Free Visitors: $5 per walk.
