La Makina del Ritmo è una band italo-cilena Mauro (Cile) al basso e alla voce Pino Maiuli (Sicilia) alla chitarra elettrica; Fuad (Cile) alla batteria e alle percussioni; Filippo (Sardegna) al synth.
La Makina del Ritmo definisce la propria musica come Cumbia Psichedelica, una sperimentazione che fonde i linguaggi sonori e culturali della cumbia sudamericana tradizionale con nuove sonorità elettriche e psichedeliche. Tradizionalmente eseguita da grandi formazioni con molteplici percussioni e strumenti acustici, la cumbia viene reinterpretata dalla band in chiave minimalista, avvicinando il genere al linguaggio dei grandi gruppi rock europei.
Questa visione si riflette tanto nelle scelte compositive quanto nell'approccio
performativo,
che riducono la formazione a quattro elementi e puntano su strumenti essenziali,
tra cui la
