About the event

Auditions: The Girls on the Train
The Racine Theatre Guild will be holding open auditions for "The Girl on the Train" on Monday, January 5 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, January 6 at 7 p.m.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Rachel Watson obsessively observes a couple through the windows of the train every morning. They’re everything she wants her life to be – happy and perfect. Or so it would seem. When the woman she has been watching goes missing, Rachel’s reality and escapism blur as she is caught up as a witness and a suspect to the mystery. She becomes dangerously intertwined with secrets, lies, memories, and revelations that put her on the edge of peril. Based on The New York Times Bestseller and film adaptation, the modern thriller gripped the world. Unveiling the dark corners of the human psyche, it will keep you guessing until the final moments.

ROLES / CASTING INFO
Looking for a diverse cast of any and all ethnicities and backgrounds. No experience is necessary to be part of the production. British accents are encouraged.

FEMALE/FEMALE PRESENTING
• Rachel Watson (25 – 40s): The titular girl on the train. An alcoholic divorcee struggling with memory loss; vulnerable yet determined. She rides the train and dreams about the lives of people she doesn’t know to help her cope. The actress playing Rachel will need to participate in several physically intimate scenes and will be both the target and aggressor in scenes involving physical and emotional abuse.
• Megan Hipwell (25 – 40s): The girl Rachel wants to be. Beautiful, mysterious, and deeply troubled. A woman that other women want to be, and one that men easily fall in love with. She will be the target of physical violence and discusses sensitive content matters around child loss.
• Anna Watson (25 – 40s): Tom’s new wife, who he had an affair with before leaving Rachel. Protective of her family, but harboring jealousy and fear.

MALE/MALE PRESENTING
• Detective Inspector Gaskill (30s – 60s): The lead detective on Megan Hipwell’s case. A seasoned investigator, skeptical but determined to uncover the truth.
• Tom Watson (30s – 40s): Rachel’s ex-husband, who is now married to Anna. He is very charming and uses this to his advantage to attract women. Has a darker, manipulative and narcissistic side.
• Scott Hipwell (25 – 40s): Megan’s husband. He is very possessive of Megan, and after finding out about her infidelity, threatens to K*ll her, which makes him a prime suspect in her disappearance.
• Kamal Abdic (30s – 50s): Megan’s therapist, and has been helping her to work through her troubled past and find her sense of self. Intelligent and enigmatic, with secrets of his own. Kamal is of Bosnian/Serbian descent and BIPOC individuals are encouraged to audition.
