The yearly production by MAVC through the artistic-educational platform Belt il-Bniedem has now become an established event in the cultural calendar. Over the past 4 years the college has put up different kinds of multi-disciplinary productions – an opera film (Blat – The Island Fortress) in 2022, an operetta (Ġawhar Misjub – An Operatic Banquet) in 2023, a play with music and dance  in 2024 (Id-Dejjem – The Everlink) and an opera (Trab – The Rest is Dust) in 2025.
Multi-disciplinary productions – works of art combining the 5 main art forms – literature, music, dance , drama and visual arts come in various forms and guises and one of the focuses of ‘Belt il-Bniedem’ is to explore different forms so that the students of MAVC and beyond can get a different enriching experience each year.  That is why this year we are presenting a triptych. 
L-Aħħar Bastiment – Stories from the Grand Harbour is a multidisciplinary triptych made up of three interconnected works: a short play with music, a short musical, and a dance section. The overarching concept is my own, as is the music written for the dance section. The musical itself was written by Geoffrey Thomas, while the music for the play is by Tomasz Skweresz.
The triptych circles around the cultural and historical phenomenon that the Grand Harbour of Malta is. Over the millennia the Grand Harbour has served as the umbilical cord by which Malta is connected to the outside world. Even with the advent of commercial aviation, the Grand Harbour serves as a crucial channel for the transport of goods and people. 
 Who knows how many undiscovered stories have taken place in the Grand Harbour ? The triptych tackles this task by taking 2 approaches - While the narratives of the play and the musical are fictional, the dance section draws directly from lived history. It consists of three dance pieces, each inspired by the story of a real ship, and each shaped by the way memory, loss, and the sea intersect in Malta’s collective consciousness.
We hope this unique production captivates your imagination and in some ways makes you appreciate more the unique Maltese phenomenon that the Grand Harbour is.
