Join Quincy Public Library and QUANADA for an evening celebrating your freedom to read. We’ll be giving away 2,300 banned books—free for all ages—in recognition of Banned Books Week, sponsored by QUANADA.
The First Amendment protects our freedoms of speech and expression, yet censorship is on the rise. Nationwide, book bans have skyrocketed from 2,532 in 2021–22 to 10,046 in the 2023–24 school year, according to PEN America. Books that share diverse voices, real experiences, and new perspectives are being targeted at alarming rates.
This event is about celebrating the voices that need to be heard and your right to choose what you read.
Come join us, enjoy refreshments, and leave with books others have tried to silence.
Funding provided in whole or part by the Illinois Department of Human Services.
