Dive into the depths with confidence and learn the art of freediving from former world champion, Kathryn Nevatt, at Alpine Aqualand pool in Queenstown this summer. Join our Introduction to Freediving course and discover the underwater world like never before.
Join us for an informative full-day pool-based course that covers the fundamental concepts of freediving, from theory and technique to safety. You'll gain an all-round understanding of freediving basics, to gain confidence in and improved enjoyment of the water. Learning will include:
- Freediving equipment, why we use it, what to look for when purchasing, and effective use of it
- Physiology of the freediver
- Dangers of freediving & staying safe
- Breathing techniques
- Static apnea (time-based breath-holding) to learn breath hold technique and see how long you can hold your breath
- Dynamic apnea (distance-based breath-holding) to see how far can swim while holding your breath
- Swimming with fins technique
- Basic/safe equalization techniques
- Buddy safety, and much more
Course Cost:
This full day course costs $350 per person. Secure your spot with a $175 deposit and completion of the required forms. Act quickly, as spots are limited and generally fill up fast.
Giving Back:
Kathryn runs these courses as a fundraiser to support her sport and give back to the community, so your participation not only enriches your own life but also contributes to a greater cause. Kathryn's women's scholarship will be available again this summer for women over 30, who are on a low income (you'll need a community services card - get in touch for more info).
