Join us for another insightful evening diving deeper into avalanche safety and smart backcountry practices just as the season ramps up. Hosted by IFMGA Mountain Guide Will Rowntree, joined by Llewellyn (Treble Cone Snow Safety Officer), and featuring Bianca Bratton (Avalanche Advisory).

What to Expect:
1. Seasonal outlook & snowpack analysis
Will Rowntree is going to outline the current snowpack conditions within the Queenstown region which mainly includes Cardrona, Remarkables and the South Harris areas. As well as some quick tips and tricks for avalanche assessment while travelling in the backcountry.
2. Local touring intel
Will and Llewellyn will discuss touring options around Queenstown and Wanaka resorts, any access updates, and best practices for reporting incidents and navigating the often-blurry line between resort patrol and backcountry response.
3. Mountain Safety Council
Bianca Bratton from the NZ Avalanche Advisory will give insight into avalanche forecasting in Aotearoa and share free safety tools and resources to plan safe backcountry adventures this winter. She will also be sharing some of the latest initiatives from the Mountain Safety Council.
