Inspired by her grandmother’s legacy as a frame-drum player, Musolino has dedicated her career to exploring, preserving, and reimagining the folk songs of Sicily. With her trio Terra Sangue Mare, she earned international recognition when their album was named one of PopMatters’ “12 Best World Music Albums of 2016.” Now based in Memphis, Musolino blends Southern Italian traditions with the sounds of the American South, creating a vibrant new musical dialogue, which are included in both her single release, ‘Tavula ri Morti,’ and album release, ‘La Notti Triunfanti,’ her Christmas album recorded and produced in Memphis. She is also the founder of Rosa’s Drum, an organization dedicated to teaching and promoting folk traditions from Sicily and Southern Italy.
