Shakti Rising - Honoring Our Stories

Shakti Rising is a powerful dance story that explores the cultural, political, and spiritual worlds shaping the life cycles of two women: Shakti and Sky Woman, embodied through Mother Earth. 

This moving performance is a rare collaboration between Indian and Indigenous dance and music, offering an intercultural and multilingual performance that follows the journeys of two women navigating both ancestral worlds and into the present day contemporary life.

Drawing on ancestral knowledge, profound lived experiences, and issues affecting marginalized and Indigenous communities, the production illuminates these themes through six evocative dance pieces.
Through this deep collaborative exploration of Mother Earth, the work expresses courage and power grounded in feminine strength and wisdom. Dancing through moments of joy, struggle, and triumph, Shakti Rising creates a path of solidarity, resilience, hope, and love.
We invite audiences to join us on this heartfelt and transformative journey.

We are honored that Haida artist Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson will participate in this unique collaboration performance.
