Long French Film Festival | Jules et Jim
Coming up next Wednesday, as part of our Valentine's month selection, JULES ET JIM, one of cinema’s most captivating romantic triangles directed by the legendary François Truffaut. Set around the time of World War I, it describes a tragic love triangle involving French Bohemian Jim (Henri Serre), his shy Austrian friend Jules (Oskar Werner), and the alluring and willful Catherine (played by the famed Jeanne Moreau) whose enigmatic smile and passionate nature lure Jules and Jim.
An exuberant and poignant meditation on freedom, loyalty, and the fortitude of love, Jules and Jim was a worldwide smash in 1962 and remains every bit as audacious and entrancing today. Truffaut's third and, for many viewers, his best film, it is an adaptation of a semi-autobiographical novel by Henri-Pierre Roché.
