🏰 Jivdhan Fort was built to protect the ancient trade route of Naneghat. It was considered an important pass as it connected the mainland to the sea 🌊. The fort was heavily guarded at all times. The trek begins through a dense forest 🌳, offering stunning views and opportunities to spot beautiful birds 🐦 and wildlife 🐾 around the fort.
Naneghat is a historic mountain pass connecting the Konkan coast and Junnar town. “Nane” means coin and “ghat” means pass – this route was once used as a toll collection point 💰 by traders. 🏺 The cave inscriptions here suggest rule by the Satavahana dynasty and even the Mauryan Empire.
