He covers a broad range of global news and current events including natural disasters and wars but also gets to examine the softer side of life through profiles of noteworthy people and stories highlighting arts, culture, and craftsmanship. Doane, a Senior Foreign Correspondent for CBS News, has been based in Italy for the last ten years. Before that he was CBS’ Asia Correspondent based in Beijing, China. He began working with CBS in New York in 2007 having moved from CNN where he covered global affairs from New Delhi, India. He started his career at Channel One News which was the daily, in-school TV network seen by eight million students. He was awarded the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for his reporting in Darfur, Sudan and has won several national Emmy Awards for his work on SUNDAY MORNING, most recently for a piece shot in Israel and the West Bank about dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians.
