I AM A SEAGULL at the Granoff Center / Brown University Arts Initiative
“I am a Seagull” is a hybrid film documenting The Chekhov Project- an annual, immersive, open-frame performance event created by Brown faculty members Brian Mertes and Melissa Kievman. Immerse yourself in an eccentric community of actors and their frenzied and loving attempt to stage Chekhov’s play The Seagull in Upstate NY. Playfully blending documentary and narrative, this film dissolves boundaries between audience and performer, representation and reality. A folksy set from musicians featured in the film starts off the evening and a moderated discussion with the film makers closes it out.
