Apex Defense Group (ADG) Defensive Shotgun 1 is a live-fire course for responsible armed citizens, home defenders, law enforcement, and new competition shooters who want to run a shotgun with purpose instead of hope. We’ll take your 12- or 20-gauge from “closet gun” to a vetted defensive tool.
You’ll work:
- Defensive shotgun safety and setup
- Marksmanship and recoil management with birdshot, buckshot, and slugs
- Emergency and tactical reloads, topping off, and ammo management
- Use of cover and controlled movement
- Patterning your defensive loads at realistic distances
Tuition & Round Count:
- Tuition: $195
- Range Fee: $15
- Round Count: 150+ rounds (100–120 birdshot, 20 buckshot, 20 slugs)
Skill Level & Prerequisites:
- Level 1 / Intro defensive shotgun
- No formal prerequisites, but you should be comfortable with basic firearm safety and following range commands.
Required Gear:
- Pump or semi-auto shotgun (12 or 20 gauge preferred)
- Sling (two-point preferred)
- 150+ rounds total (birdshot, buckshot, slugs)
- Shell carrier (side saddle, belt caddy, chest rig, etc.)
- Eye and ear protection
- Weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear
Recommended Gear:
- Knee pads, shooting gloves, hat
- Water, electrolytes, and snacks
- Notepad and pen for pattern data and notes
