- **Event Description**: Help us kick off a summer of fun at the farmstead! Join Rose Farm + the Blank Park Zoo to learn about the natural world in your backyard and how you can protect it at 9, 10 + 11 AM. Christine Eckles from the Blank Park Zoo conservation initiative "Plant, Grow, Fly" will facilitate four exciting hands-on learning stations including an animal meet + greet, sensory bins, bug artifacts and a backyard bird count. Students will meet an Ambassador Animal. Students will also enjoy a short story about bugs and bug life cycle, and each child will take home supplies needed to make a seed ball + start a pollinator habitat.  Our friends from the West Des Moines Public library will join us for a story. 

NEW for 2025, a reservation is required! Rose Farm will release tickets every Monday (mark your calendar for June 2nd!) for the upcoming Friday Farm School. The farm will host 50 children at each session. There is no fee to attend + tickets are complimentary to every child. 

You are welcome to bring along your lawn chair or a blanket. Our lessons + stories are geared towards school-age children. However, we welcome guests of all ages as there are sensory experiences beneficial to even the youngest guest. You'll also find sweet treats + drinks available for purchase in The Shoppe.
