This hands-on workshop blends food preservation with outdoor education — guiding participants from making jam or jelly in a licensed kitchen to learning essential hiking and camping skills on a guided park trail.

It’s a unique opportunity to connect food, nature, and practical outdoor knowledge in one immersive experience. Participants will work together to create shelf-stable jam or jelly, then step outside for a guided hike covering backpacking fundamentals, Leave No Trace principles, and trail confidence.

No prior experience required.

Age Guidelines
Recommended for ages 10 and up.
Younger participants must be closely supervised by a registered adult.

Please note: hot liquids, kitchen equipment, and hiking activities are involved.

Jar & Registration Policy
Each registration includes one finished jar per family or individual registration.

Families wishing to make additional jars must register for additional spots.

This helps ensure adequate supplies, maintain food safety standards, and provide a quality hands-on experience for everyone.

Each participant will take home their finished jar.

Jam & Jelly Making
Hands-on stations include fruit prep, cooking, jar filling, and water bath processing.
Jars are removed from the bath and placed upright on towels in a draft-free area to cool.

Participants then grab daypacks and head to the trail. Jars remain safely at the community center during the hike.
