From 10–13 September 2026, the former Prishtina Prison, the Prison Museum of Prishtina “Burgu i Idealit”, becomes a temporary space for sound and radio art, performance, listening and collective experimentation.

Prison Radio is an international festival of sound and radio art bringing together artists, musicians, radio makers, performers and cultural practitioners from Kosovo and abroad.
Across four days, the festival explores the prison both as a physical space and as a starting point for thinking about confinement, political repression, memory, resistance, freedom and solidarity and about the ways voices, sounds and ideas can move beyond walls.

The programme includes:
Live Radio Sessions, Radio and Sound Art Interventions, Concerts, Sound Performances & Listening Sessions, Exhibitions, Lectures & Artist Talks, Masterclasses, Community Events, Nightly Listening Session and & Music Line Ups

At the centre of the festival is PRISON × RADIO LIVE a 72 hour radio program with live radio formats from 12.00 every day developed together with Lumpen Station (CH): Broadcasts, radio art performances, interviews, conversations, concerts, open studios and sound interventions will take place between Studio Burgu at the Burgu i Idealit and Studio Hani at Hani i dy Robertëve.

In the evenings, Kolektiv Radio (XK), a community radio from Prizren/Kosovo, takes over Hani i dy Robertëve with PRISON × NIGHTS and brings listening sessions, music line-ups and a space for collective listening and exchange accompanied by live broadcasts from Studio Hani by Lumpen Station (CH).

About the venue
The Prison Museum of Prishtina “Burgu i Idealit” is located in the former Pre-Trial Detention Center, also known as the District Prison. Built in the 1950s and operating until 1999, the prison was a site of imprisonment, interrogation and torture for thousands of political activists, dissidents and other prisoners, particularly members of Albanian political organisations during the Yugoslav period. “Burgu i Idealit” was also a prison of ideas: thoughts, demands and ideas that challenged the political order were persecuted, imprisoned and suppressed. Today, the museum preserves this history as a space of testimony, reflection and remembrance.

Prison Radio activates this space through sound, listening to its histories while opening it toward new voices, encounters and possibilities.

Nga 10 - 13 shtator 2026, ish-Burgu i Prishtinës, Muzeu i Burgut të Prishtinës “Burgu i Idealit”, shndërrohet përkohësisht në një hapësirë që ka në fokus radion dhe artin tingull, performancën, dëgjimin dhe eksperimentimin kolektiv.

Prison Radio është festival ndërkombëtar i radios dhe artit të tingullit, që bashkon artistë, muzikantë, krijues të radios, performuesë dhe profesionistë të kulturës nga Kosova dhe më gjerë. 

Përgjatë katër ditëve, festivali eksploron burgun si hapësirë fizike, por edhe si pikënisje për të menduar e diskutuar mbi izolimin, represionin politik, kujtesën, rezistencën, lirinë e solidaritetin, gjithashtu edhe mbi mënyrat se si zërat, tingujt dhe idetë mund të kapërcejnë mure. 

Programi përfshin: 
Sesione radiofonike live, intervenime të artit radiofonik dhe të tingullit, koncerte, shëtitje dëgjimore e sound-performanca, ekspozita, ligjërata e biseda me artistë, masterklasa, aktivitete me komunitetin, si dhe në mbrëmje sesione dëgjimi me program muzikor.

Pika qendrore e festivalit është PRISON × RADIO LIVE, një program radiofonik 72-orësh në format të radios live, që shpaloset çdo ditë nga ora 12:00, në bashkëpunim me Lumpen Station (CH), duke përfshirë: transmetime, performanca të artit radiofonik, intervista, biseda, koncerte, studio të hapura dhe instalime zanore, të cilat hartohen në Studio Burgu në Burgun e Idealit dhe në Studio Hani në Hanin e 2 Robertëve. 

Në mbrëmje, Kolektiv Radio (XK), një radio komunitare nga Prizreni/Kosova, në Hanin e 2 Robertëve merr përsipër programin PRISON × NIGHTS, duke sjellë sesione dëgjimi, programe muzikore dhe një hapësirë për dëgjim e shkëmbim kolektiv, të shoqëruara me transmetime të drejtpërdrejta nga Studio Hani.

Muzeu i Burgut të Prishtinës “Burgu i Idealit” ndodhet në ndërtesën e ish-Qendrës së Paraburgimit në Prishtinë, e njohur si Burgu i Qarkut. E ndërtuar në vitet ’50 të shekullit **, ajo funksionoi deri në vitin 1999 dhe gjatë kësaj periudhe u bë vend burgimi, hetimi dhe torture për mijëra veprimtarë politikë, aktivistë, disidentë dhe të burgosur të tjerë, veçanërisht pjesëtarë të organizatave politike shqiptare përgjatë periudhës jugosllave. “Burgu i Idealit” ishte edhe burg i ideve: çdo mendim, kërkesë apo ide që sfidonte rendin politik të kohës dhe koncepcionet bazike të regjimit, persekutohej, burgosej e shtypej. Sot, muzeu e ruan këtë fragment të kësaj rezistence, si hapësirë dëshmie, reflektimi e kujtese.

Kjo hapësirë aktivizohet edhe përmes zërit, duke dëgjuar historitë e saj, po ashtu e hap atë ndaj zërave, takimeve dhe mundësive të reja.
