YES! STEAM Lab at Prescott Public Library

What’s Starchy in My Snack?
Join us for a tasty twist on science! In this interactive lab, kids will use iodine to test a variety of foods, from apples to rice, to discover which ones are packed with starch. Participants will make predictions, drop iodine onto food samples, and observe dramatic color changes as science reveals what’s hiding in their snacks.

Along the way, we’ll explore why plants store starch, the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates, and how scientists use chemical indicators to solve everyday mysteries in biology and food science.

This program is designed for kids in grades 2–5 and promotes hands-on discovery, critical thinking, and scientific fun. Register online, at the Youth Desk, or call 928.777.1537.
